This is my latest CD with some great songs, like Truck Driving Mama, You're the Only One, Amazing Grace and Dan's Song. Great driving music, and lots of good tunes.
This track was conceived from the idea that House of the Rising Sun and Amazing Grace are two sides of the same coin. Without one, one can't have the other. This is a treat from my heart to yours. Enjoy.
Thank you to Stephen Wise of Stepwise Music in Clifton Heights, PA for the engineering, arranging and instrumentation of this version of my classic heart break song.
Thank you to Donna Marie Carey for permission to use her great song, Bits n Pieces. I only changed a couple of words to point the inspiration to The Work of Byron Katie, which has been very helpful to me. For more information on The Work of Byron Katie, go to www.thework.com.
This song was recorded in Roger Gillespie's studio in Apple Valley, CA. Roger is playing all the instruments other than the rythm guitar, which I am playing.
Thank you Roger, and thank you, Donna.
Dan's Song is a rewrite of my song, "I'm Coming Home." The rewrite came to me in my sleep one night, and unbeknownst to me as I was rewriting my song making it specific to Dan, he died. This album is dedicated to Dan who started me on the road to recording my music in a full and professional way. He loved to record my voice, but the only song we finished together was Truck Driving Mama.
So thank you, Dan for everything you did for me and my confidence.
Recorded at Stepwise Music with Stephen Wise. Thank you Stephen for your loving support recording this song, your instrumentation, vocals and engineering.
I wrote this in a rest area overlooking the San Francisco Bay. What a great feeling, what a great song.
Recorded in Roger Gillespie's studio in Apple Valley, CA. Thank you Roger for playing all the instruments except rythm guitar and recording the whole thing. It has been my pleasure to work with you.
Sung by Bobbie Bush and myself, this album was released in 1996. It is one of my favorites... very eclectic; some secular songs, some spiritual, a spoof on John Denver's Country Roads, some laughter and lots of great harmonies.
This collection was released in 1992. My backup singer was Hayward Saffle. My profound thanks to him and Bobbie Bush for making this collection possible.
A collection of songs from 1993 by Sweet Spirit. All songs written and performed by Annabella Wood, back-up vocals by Hayward Saffle. These are songs of the rules of physical manifestation as I was exploring the principles of Ernest Holmes and Religious Science. Includes the original version of Just Say Yes
Challenging Age was written by myself with some help from my backup singer at the time, Hayward Saffle. We recorded it ourselves in my home studio which was a very nice analog studio for its day, 1988.
I was deep into A Course in Miracles and came across the idea that God simply doesn't have the eyes to see anything other than love. What then would be important to me in life. This song is an outcropping of that exploration.
Just Say Yes was written in response to the Reagan's Just Say No campaign. I got so tired of hearing Just Say No and it felt so negative to me, I had to make it more positive. The story is a true one about my own life trajectory at the time and the moment when I finally surrendered the struggle.
Sometimes considered one of my best songs ever written, Reading or Writing speaks to the approach one takes with regard to their life. Am I actively making the choices that affect me, or am I not? That is what this song is all about.
This message was taken from a Michael Beckwith sermon which touched me deeply. I had never considered that this was a friendly world conspiring for my happiness. He said to look around and see for yourself. I did, and I liked what I saw. This song came from that moment of clarity.
All That is Real is taken directly from the text of A Course in Miracles. It was a difficult principle for me to understand and incorporate into my everyday life. As I so often do, I took this principle and put it to music, and I love the way it came out.
This album is based on Religious Science. The songs seem to follow the 12 steps of AA, though this is an afterthought. Recorded in 1987, this is Annabella Wood with Alicia Gross singing backup with some garage instruments thrown in. It is great lyrics and fun as a look back in time.
This is a two song album. It has been credited for changing one person's mind when they were going to commit suicide. It has facilitated healing in a number of people. It has a way of speaking to you when these two songs work their way into your psyche.
This song was written in response to a minister's questioning how I could both believe in God and be lesbian. I wrote it in 1985 and still consider it one of my favorites.
